The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces the temporary closure of the Ostrica Locks in Plaquemines Parish for maintenance effective today. Pending the upcoming dredging project schedule, the closure may remain through Sunday, July 20. During the closure, maintenance of both the facility and crew boat will be performed. A $900,000 dredging project is scheduled to begin on July 17 that will allow for safernavigation to areas including prime oyster beds and fishing grounds. The contractor is Coastal Dredging Company. The locks are located on the East Bank of Plaquemines Parish, across from Buras.
