The Citizen's Police Academy Class Number 13 for the Plaquemines Sheriff's Office is set to begin on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the Port Sulphur YMCA. The purpose of the course is to provide locals with the tools that improve communication with authorities. On the whole, participants will finish the course being more informed citizens of our parish. The Academy is comprised of two hour classes that meet every Thursday for 10-weeks. Some of the topics included in the schedule are: uniform patrol, narcotics, use of force, corrections, communications, criminal investigations, marine division, judicial process, reserves, range day, and special services. Additionally, participants will go on a two-hour ride-along with a police officer.
