Man ends 1878-mile charity ride in Venice

A 72-year-old man biking from one end of Plaquemines Parish to the other would be impressive. That same man riding from one end of Louisiana to the other is newsworthy. That septuagenarian biking the entirety of the Mississippi River? That borders on unbelievable. But that’s exactly what Steve Matchett did. Matchett planned the ride as a means to raise awareness about the need for bone marrow donors and the good they can do for people diagnosed with leukemia.
