Asanta Mackey wins state essay contest

Annually, the Plaquemines Parish Fair & Orange Festival holds an essay and poster contest in affiliation with the Louisiana Association of Fairs & Festivals. Students in grades 6 through 8, and 9 through 12, enter at the school-level. Then school winners compete parish-wide, and those winners go to the state level in February each year. The Orange Festival is proud to have a state winner in the essay contest this year. South Plaquemines Elementary sixth grade student, Asanta Mackey, placed third in the state for her entry in the essay contest.
