Lucatero selected Louisiana Boys and Girls Club Military Youth of the Year

For the first time a student from the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base (NAS JRB) New Orleans’ Child and Youth Program (CYP) has been selected as the Boys and Girls Club of America’s (BGCA) Military Youth of the Year for Louisiana.

Allen Lucatero, son of Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Leandro and Maria Lucatero, and a sophomore at Belle Chasse High , School, recently earned , the award in Baton Rouge, , Louisiana.

For nearly 70 years, the BGCA Youth of the Year - program has honored and celebrated the nation’s most inspiring teens and their incredible journeys.

“All military youth centers are affiliated with the Boys and Girls Clubs,” said Seander Johnson, NAS JRB New Orleans youth center and club director. “This makes all of our CYP youth members of the Boys and Girls Club.”

Earlier this year Allen was selected as the NAS JRB youth of the year and began putting together a nomination package for the state award.
