RAM Coal Terminal Permit Struck Down

Plaquemines Parish 25th Judicial District Court Judge Kevin Connor has overturned a coastal-use permit that would have allowed a controversial coal terminal to be built in Myrtle Grove. The Sierra Club, Louisiana Environmental Action Network and Gulf Restoration Network successfully challenged the permit for the RAM Terminals LLC Coal Export Facility, saying that the project was a threat to the health of nearby residents and would interfere with a planned freshwater diversion that was scheduled to be constructed at the same site.
