The head of a Belle Chasse company that capped a 15-year-old oil spill 12 miles off Plaquemines’ coast earlier this year may have convinced the Parish Council to seek legal recourse against the owners of the offending wells.

Former Plaquemines President and current Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser was in Belle Chasse June 3 to encourage commercial fishermen to begin documenting their losses with an eye toward future government compensation.

The Plaquemines Gazette wants to know how you feel about the prospect of paying a toll for up to 30 years to be rid of the old Belle Chasse Bridge and Tunnel.
