Buras man indicted on rape, kidnapping charges
On Jan. 28 the Plaquemines Parish District Attorney’s Office announced the indictment of Hien Vinh Nguyen of Buras on one charge of aggravated rape and one charge of second-degree kidnapping.
Nguyen was indicted by a grand jury on charges that he sexually abused a juvenile neighbor in Buras around 2012-2013 when the victim was eight or nine years old. The juvenile, now 15, reported the abuse to the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office.
If convicted on a charge of aggravated rape, Nguyen faces a mandatory sentence of life without parole.
Nguyen is incarcerated on $500,000 bail for the aggravated rape charge and $20,000 for the false imprisonment charge. An arraignment hearing is set for March 2 before 25th Judicial District Court Judge Kevin Conner.
