Draining the swamp that was Belle Chasse

A man with big ideas, George Hero Sr. saw grand opportunities where others only saw swamp.  “We’re all here because of yellow fever,” his grandson,  George Hero III told the audience at this month’s  Plaquemines HistoricalAssociation meeting. Hero  recounted the story of his grandfather’s spark oninspiration – the 1905 yellow  fever epidemic in NewOrleans.
