GOHSEP Prepares for Hurricane Season, and Beyond

Last Saturday morning, the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) was on site at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Belle Chasse conducting a fullscale exercise testing emergency management and preparedness. The exercise combined almost 30 federal, state and local agencies, all of which are expected to work together efficiently in the face of emergency. Along with Belle Chasse, simultaneous exercises took place at the Bonnet Carré Spillway in St. Charles Parish and at the Port of Lake Charles (Westlake) in Calcasieu Parish.
