Greco announces campaign for Sheriff
Lonnie Greco, a lifelong resident of Plaquemines Parish, has spent a large portion of his adult life in public service. He served as a Deputy for 11 and a half years, and as the Parish Director of Operations during Hurricane Katrina.
Mr. Greco served as Sheriff from 2012 to 2016. The Department reduced general budget spending by over 3.5 million dollars, while increasing its effectiveness, and efficiency, reducing parish crime by over 17%.
“My Neighborhood Policing program began by forming a Traffic Division and dividing the Parish into patrol beats. This allowed Patrol Deputies to patrol our neighborhoods daily and year round, not just during election time. This one facet of our program allowed Response times to decrease and combined with proactive policing led to our reduction in crime. Additionally, we started new programs and expanded others to serve our seniors and younger citizens within our community.”
