Local businesses eager to assist new Economic Director
This week marks the return of the Plaquemines Parish Economic and Tourism Director and business leaders are optimistic about what that portends.
Parish President Kirk Lepine announced at the April 11 Plaquemines Parish Council meeting that he had hired Keith Espadron to fill the dual role, which had been vacant for years due to budget cuts. Espadron distinguished himself during his 2018 campaign for the District 7 council seat, impressing Lepine with his ideas and energy.
“He’s a smart, innovative young man who has Plaquemines’ best interests at heart,” said Lepine. “We all wear many hats in this administration, so he’s director of economic development and tourism. He said ‘no problem.’”
Espadron, who holds a bachelor’s in political science from LSU, was recently in logistics at Daybrook Fisheries, coordinating shipping for the local company across the United States and as far as China and the European Union. He said his knowledge of international trade and inventory management will come in handy, but his desire to see Plaquemines thrive will make a bigger impact.
