Mary Plantation now open

By Alex Galbraith
New Orleans hotelier Blake Miller dreamed of owning an authentic plantation for so long that not even Mother Nature herself could dissuade him. Miller bought Mary Plantation at an auction in March 2012 for $770,000 with plans to use it as a venue. In late August of that same year, Hurricane Issac made landfall just as Miller had completed his renovations of the home. The storm filled the French Colonial mansion with 10 ft. of water. The flood destroyed all of the furnishings and several of the outlying buildings, including a greenhouse and a barn.
