• Army Sgt. Donald Sino Jr. has invited the citizens of Plaquemines Parish to join his Memorial Day tradition of marching more than 10 miles in remembrance of fallen soldiers.

Memorial Day march honors fallen soldiers

Neither lung disease nor retirement can keep Plaquemines Army combat veteran Donald Sino Jr. from his traditional Memorial Day road march to honor fallen comrades.

Sino, who is also a corrections officer for the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office, will set out from Manhattan Athletic Club in Harvey at 8 a.m. on May 27 with a full rucksack and troop more than 10 miles to Barriere Road in Belle Chasse.
