New Civil Service director learning on the job

Plaquemines Parish’s new Civil Service director is on the job.

Reshell Lambert, a Port Sulphur native with a wealth of experience in human resources, reported for her first day of work Dec. 3. Retiring Civil Service Director Ellen Barrois will work through Dec. 14 to get Lambert up to speed. Bill Paradelas, Civil Service director from 1997-2014, has also been brought in through the end of the month as a consultant.

Lambert attended her first Civil Service Commission meeting Dec. 5, silently taking notes as Barrois answered questions during her final meeting. Lambert said her priority for the coming weeks is a whole lot of listening and learning.

“It’s a different element than anything I’ve ever done. But I’m excited to do anything that aids employees and just learn from the Commission and Ellen and Mr. Bill,” said Lambert. “I have a copy of the rulebook and I’ve been studying at night to get familiar.”
