Officials cut the ribbon on new Courthouse
Plaquemines Parish debuted its new crown jewel facility Aug. 8 as the public was invited inside the Parish Courthouse in Pointe a la Hache.
Parish Government officials and judges from three levels of state court were on hand to unveil the $20 million, 36,000-squarefoot, elevated courthouse, which stands just feet away from the remnants of its predecessor, which burned beyond repair in a 2002 arson.
“We’ve finally returned home,” said Clerk of Court Kim Turlich-Vaughan, who called the official ribbon-cutting “The end of a long journey.”
