One year in, Turlich changes culture at PPSO

One year into his tenure as Plaquemines Parish sheriff, Jerry Turlich is changing his department from the inside out.

The outer-facing function of the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff ’s Office hasn’t changed much since July 2016. Uniform Crime Reports showed a two percent dip in parish crime from 2015 to 2016, and another four percent drop for the first half of 2017, now at the lowest levels in Plaquemines since the FBI began keeping UCR records. But crime was already on the decline by the time Turlich took the reins from former sheriff Lonnie Greco.
