Plaquemines Parish Family Gras and Parade rolls on Eastbank
The talk around town leading up to Family Gras 2019 was whether or not it would rain and perhaps cancel the event. The weather man predicted a 70 percent chance of rain that day, threatening the event. On Sunday, March 3, the weather conditions were dense fog and overcast skies. Big Thanks to Mother Nature, because she decided to lift the fog, allow the sun to shine and let the parade start with an hour delay.
When you hear about Plaquemines Parish Family Gras, most people think about the parade that occurs on the East bank of Plaquemines Parish each year, Down The Road. There are so many people from all over the metro area who travel south on Highway 39 each year to be part of this amazing family experience. Many east bank residents who relocated after Hurricane Katrina return home during this time of year. It’s an opportunity to visit family and friends. The event has grown and many people are coming down to see what Plaquemines Parish Family Gras is all about and they don’t leave disappointed.
