Plaquemines Paws it Forward

Despite humid temperatures inside and outside the Plaquemines Animal Welfare Society, the Belle Chasse shelter is working on moving toward a semblance of normalcy.

Late Tuesday night on July 10, the air condition malfunctioned at the PAWS and Animal Control locations, adding to an unfortunate situation when employees came to work on Wednesday to discover two kittens had passed away, most likely due to the high temperatures. Plaquemines Parish maintenance is currently working to solve the issue, estimating it may take at least two weeks to fix the 14 separate Qualifying opens July 18 for most of the top elected positions in Plaquemines Parish, and a handful of seats will definitely feature new faces come January. The Plaquemines Clerk of Courts will open its qualifying period July 18 for District 1 U.S. representative, parish president, parish council, school board justices of the peace and constables. Pick up a copy of the July 24 Gazette for a comprehensive list of qualifying candidates. On the parish council, Districts 3, 6 and 8 are sure to feature new units.
