Waguespack calls for business leaders to run for office at PABI
Stephen Waguespack is looking for a few good business people to run for public office.
Waguespack, the president and CEO of the Louisiana Association of Business & Industry (LABI), put out the call while addressing the Plaquemines Association of Business & Industry’s annual Installation of Officers Feb. 7 at English Turn Country Club. 70 Louisiana legislators will hit their term limit this year and Waguespack said business owners and operators are best suited to steer the state’s precarious economy back toward prosperity.
“My job as head of the state chamber of commerce is to go around the state and beg business owners to consider running for office at every level,” said Waguespack. “Business owners know how to manage payroll, manage HR, deal with customers, know what it means to have debt hanging over your head and keep the doors open.
It’s that can-do attitude. We need more of that.”
