Wilkinson Canal project hits a crisis point

For more than a decade, Warren Lawrence and other Myrtle Grove residents have been seeking a solution to prevent contaminated wastewater from the nearby pumping station from entering Wilkinson Canal. In May, Lawrence met with members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and said the Corps was receptive to the residents’ request to move the proposed cut in the canal to a location that would direct a majority of the water from the pumping station out into the bay.
