Williams signs with Southwest

South Plaquemines High School senior Truce Williams recently signed on to play basketball for University of the Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico. Williams graduates this year with a school record 1,355 points scored for the Hurricanes, 859 rebounds and 173 blocks. He was named the District 12-2A most valuable player, named to the Boys All-Metro team, the Jefferson vs. Orleans All-Star game and nominated for the McDonald’s All-American Game. He will graduate with a 3.4 GPA and made a 28 on the ACT. “I’ve never coached a kid that works this hard and genuinely cares for others like him,” said SPHS Basketball Coach Cameron Hill. “He is a great basketball player but an even better person. I wish him nothing but success in New Mexico and I know he will make us all very proud!”
