Well, what do you know? We finally have a governor in Louisiana who is showing an interest in the property insurance crisis that is sweeping the state. One of the problems here in the Bayou State is that the governor has no responsibility or oversight in dealing with insurance issues.

My name is Avery M. Riley Jr. and I am running for council for Plaquemines Parish District 8. I am a native of Port Sulphur, Louisiana and attended Port Sulphur High School up until Hurricane Katrina struck in my sophomore year of high school. Following this my family relocated to Belle Chasse where I attended Belle Chasse High School and graduated in 2008. It was at Belle Chasse High that I met my wife Angelle. This coming January will mark our second wedding anniversary.

Transparency in government can be defined as openness, sincerity, clarity, and accountability. While the Plaquemines Parish Council professes transparency, their actions often resemble murkiness, vagueness, and ambiguity, the opposite of transparency.
