As the summer months continue to progress, the 2022 fall elections for Plaquemines Parish—the official “Election Date” is November 8—are becoming more and more prevalent in people’s minds. Already, each position up for election (the 9 council seats, school board seats, and parish presidency) has had a candidate announce that they intend on running.

Plaq. Parish Government Responds to CTS Lawsuit, Filing "Exceptions" to the Case"

The Plaquemines Parish Government (PPG) is currently engaged in a lawsuit with Clean Tank (CTS) Solutions over work the company supposedly did on the Port Sulphur water station during the Hurricane Ida recovery process. According to CTS—who filed the lawsuit against PPG—the company has not been properly compensated for this work which, it claims, was done under the direction of PPG. CTS is looking to be compensated for $415,945 it was supposedly not paid.

This month marks the 50-year anniversary of the Watergate break-in. Those of us who remember were often mesmerized by the full press coverage the event produced. I was commuting to Baton Rouge each day in 1972 as a delegate to the constitutional convention. Driving to and from the state capital, I was glued to my radio as events unfolded that led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon.

With so many projects going on in the Belle Chasse area and in Plaquemines Parish as a whole, what difference would it make if another project was also added to help traffic flow. One project in particular, the “new main entrance” currently under construction to the Naval Air Station JRB, or as a long time resident remember it as Alvin Calendar Field, is rumored to be the new main entrance for the Naval Air Station Belle Chasse.
