I am Alberta Cousson and I formally announce my candidacy for District 2 School Board Member of Plaquemines Parish. I have a personal interest in preserving the quality of our school system. My daughter is a graduate of Buras High School and both of my grandchildren attend schools in the parish.

Chairman and CEO of the Plaquemines Parish based Mississippi River Bank (MRB) Mike Bush recently got the chance to flex his athletic prowess at the 2022 National Senior Games held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on May 12 and 13.

At the May 26 Plaquemines Parish Government (PPG) council meeting, council members voted on an ordinance setting additional rules and regulations for “temporary housing” in the southern end of the parish—specifically, south of St. Jude.

The May 26 Plaquemines Port Harbor and Terminal District (PPHTD) meeting ended quickly, with board commissioners handling little more than routine housekeeping items. In total, commissioners only voted on two agenda items during the meeting.

Last week, Point of View explored the stresses experienced by the Working Class and Middle Class as it relates to everyday life. However, something large is looming that neither the President nor Congress (either party) is willing to address. The case at point is the coming housing crisis.

After a two-year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NOLA Branch #162 of the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA) will again present a "Two Bell" ceremony on Memorial Day. This ceremony to be held at the Branch Home located at 703 Kepler St., Gretna, on Monday, May 30, starting at 11 a.m.

One student from the Belle Chasse area is among the 44 high school seniors across the United States who will each receive $16,000 college scholarships from the Phillips 66 Dependent Scholarship Program.
