Additionally, these articles will compare the 2021 budget of Plaquemines Parish to St. Bernard Parish’s 2021 budget. Today’s article will cover the cost of the council and administration.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents arrested a Buras man for allegedly harassing hunters on public property in Plaquemines Parish on Dec. 26.

As we have finished fall and now into the winter, we can see the spring flood evidence of the might of Old Man River, the Mississippi. With the lower water stage, the benefits of the spring high water show in the adjacent marsh with new sediment. This is the time of year when anglers fish for speckled trout in the river from the mouth, passes, and as high up-river as Pointe a la Hache. The river is a central point of our existence in Louisiana. The French settled here for a reason: freshwater and the trade along the river valley. With nearly 20 parishes bordering the Mississippi, it affects agriculture, cities, and the very culture of the communities. During this holiday season, the famous bonfires on the riverbank and levees are yuletide joy celebrating our rich French/Cajun heritage.

Obviously, developing a casino and constructing a large container yard are different. However, there are similarities as regards to community impact.
