The Plaquemines Port Harbor & Terminal District December 9 meeting was unusually long as commissioners packed the agenda with any issues that needed to be resolved/discussed before the new year (the second meeting scheduled for December was canceled due to the Christmas holiday). While many of the agenda items were relatively banal housekeeping measures— such as officially accepting the 2022 PPHTD budget or hearing general updates on upcoming projects in the parish—some on-going conflicts within PPHTD finally came to an apparent end at the latest meeting.

Deputy Director of the Plaquemines Port Harbor & Terminal District Paul Matthews attended his final port meeting on Thursday, December 9. By the time PPHTD will meet again in January of 2022, Matthews will be on his way to a new position as the Executive Director for the Port of South Louisiana.

As the 2021 Year winds to an end, Superintendent of the Plaquemines Parish School District Denis Rousselle highlighted some of the successes of the school district in an interview with The Plaquemines Gazette.
