Fostering a rescue animal is one of the most rewarding experiences anyone could have. When it comes to volunteering and helping homeless animals, fostering is one of the key pillars of finding an animal a forever home.

October is prime time to get a jump start in the vegetable garden. Fall typically brings fewer pests, less disease pressure, and cooler temps that allow a lot of vegetables to produce and make a good crop. We typically have several weeks of dry weather which is a good opportunity to do some bed prep or tilling and get the soil ready for planting. Having the results of your most recent soil test can help you to determine what the soil needs in terms of fertilizer. Adding several inches of good quality compost or composted manure to the soil also helps to keep the soil organic matter high, which promotes good soil tilth and structure.

America has the best government money can buy… if you can afford the price! American democracy is under attack. Leftists are trying to openly corrupt the election process while major donors are purchasing power through donations.

The council has decided to “again” put forth the millage taxes for the upcoming special election. These taxes were soundly defeated on previous elections, so why do they keep bringing them back? The monies will be siphoned off for everything but what they were supposed to fund.

If you like lower taxes, more jobs, and greater fiscal stability, vote “Yes” on Constitutional Amendment 2 (CA2) on November 13. Lower taxes, because CA2 will drop our top personal income tax rate from 6 percent down to 4.25 percent.

I read an interesting editorial in the The Times Picayune last week regarding redistricting. It talked about the significance of the process that most know little about. It emphasized that if you are a voter who cares about anything, you should care about redistricting.
