Specifically, at the October 14 Plaquemines Port Harbor & Terminal District (PPHTD) meeting, port commissioners and port administration resumed the tense conversation about the port’s legal counsel.

Plaquemines Sees Rise in COVID-19 Positivity Rate

Though Plaquemines Parish saw a slight increase in its COVID-19 testing positivity rate, the parish remains on a good track with its risk level. Based on the latest information available on the Louisiana Department of Health website, it is reported that from September 30 through October 6 Plaquemines had a positivity rate of 3.3 percent.

Lady Cardinals Volleyball Team Wins Riverdale Tournament

Congratulations to the Belle Chasse High School Volleyball Team for winning the 2021 Riverdale Volleyball Tournament on Oct. 8 and 9. The Lady Cardinals defeated Riverdale, Grace King, Carver, Lusher, and Kenner Discovery. Leading players included Mae Olsen with 54 service points and 8 aces, Nya St. Cyr with 28 kills and 31 blocks, Jerne Colin with 37 assists and 6 aces, Kamryn Johnson with 10 kills and 1 block, and Ellen Rehrig with 10 kills and 5 aces. The Lady Cards are currently 19-2 for the season.

Ashlyn Plaisance Hood, 34, Gretna: contraband in a penal institution, driving while intoxicated (first offense), unlawful use of license, operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, possession of schedule II controlled dangerous substance, attempted possession of a controlled dangerous substance by fraud or subterfuge.

Hike-a-Thon to raise Funds for Land Conservation

Woodlands Conservancy's 2021 Hike-A-Thon is an effort to raise funds and awareness for local land conservation. “We all could use a break now,” said Woodlands Conservancy Executive Director Katie Brasted. “What could be better than taking a break in nature that gives back to the community?” Woodlands Conservancy’s 2021 Hike-a-Thon challenges participants to hike a marathon, 26.2 miles during the month of October. Sponsors for the event include Phillips 66 Alliance Refinery, Couvillion Marine Services and Team Sponsor, Power System Specialists.
