Lennie F. Perez passed away on May 23, 2014. He is survived by his wife Peggy Gonzalez-Perez, daughters Haley Perez and Jessica Perez, and siblings Leah Giraud and Miles Perez. He is preceded in death by his father Eldridge Perez, mother Odette Scobel Perez, and siblings Beryl Dardeau and Bruce Perez. Lennie was born September 17, 1942 in Port Sulphur, LA, grew up in New Orleans, and graduated from LSU Law School in 1968. He served in the US Army and worked under General Westmoreland in the Pentagon. He practiced criminal law in Baton Rouge for almost 40 years, during which time he was a strong advocate in the LA Legislature on behalf of defendants' rights. He helped many people in the Baton Rouge community, and his absence will be profoundly felt. For those whose lives Lennie touched, a visitation was held on Wednesday, June 11 at St. Agnes Church in Baton Rouge, followed by a Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Innocence Project of Greater New Orleans.
