Marlene Stumpf Richards
Marlene Stumpf Richards passed away June 27, 2018 in Covington at the age of 80. She was born in New Orleans, LA on August 9, 1937 to Clifford and Alice Stumpf. In 1952, the Stumpf family moved to Venice, LA, where Stumpf’s IGA was born. The entire family at one time or another operated the well known area grocery until Hurricane Katrina devastated that area. At that time, Pontchatoula, LA, became her temporary home. Marlene is survived by her sons James (Shelta) Turnage and Kevin (Gina) Turnage of Lafayette; her daughter Denise (James) Massey of Waveland, MS. Also grandchildren Dennis, Kristen, Katherine, Eric, Meghan, Jordan, Gordon, and Matthew. Great-grandchildren, Anthony, Zaiden, Link, Gabriella, George, William and Nicholas. Step-grandchildren Lisa, Mamie, Carlos, David, Maria, Pamela, and James, Jackson, Hunter, Brice, Cole, Payton, Peyton, and Ian. Her brothers Clifford, Kenneth, Wayne and Rodney Stumpf and their spouses Bonnie, Lynn, and Becky and sister-in-law Mary Lynn. Stepdaughter Terri Richards and her family. Marlene is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 48 years, George S. Richards; brother Dennis Stumpf, and sister-in-law Magie Stumpf. Friends and relatives attended the services on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA. Interment followed at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
