Voters Pass Hospital Service District Millage by Wide Margin

On Saturday, April 29, Plaquemines Parish residents voted on a millage renewal for 2.89 mills (or $2.5 million) to fund the local Hospital Service District (HSD). The millage passed by a large margin, though the election only had an unofficial turnout of 10.3 percent (1,479 voters). In total, 69 percent of voters (1,021 voters) voted in favor while 31 percent (458 voters) voted against. …
