Port Addresses Budget Adjustment, Alliance Booster Station Project at Latest Meeting

_e August 10 Plaquemines Port Harbor & Terminal District (PPHTD) board meeting saw commissioners handle routine administrative manners. _ough there were several ordinances on the agenda that would allow PPHTD executive director Charles Tillotson and his administration to expropriate land, those items were deferred at this time. _e main focus of commissioners at this meeting was to address a needed budget adjustment and begin the process of developing a water booster station near the Alliance Renery.

Update on Saltwater Intrusion, Water System

At the beginning of the August 10 Plaquemines Parish council meeting, parish president Keith Hinkley and Robert Morgan with Inframark (the company contracted by PPG to run their water system) provided an update on the saltwater intrusion situation. More specically, they addressed the progress of the solutions being pursued by the parish. Morgan explained that the two projects currently in the process of being developed are electrical xes to the Port Sulphur Water Station and the construction of a temporary booster station near the Alliance Renery.

CPRA Holds Ground Breaking Ceremony for Diversion Project

On the morning of _ursday, August 10, _e Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) held a groundbreaking ceremony for its hotly debated Mid Barataria Sediment Diversion Project in Plaquemines Parish. After a several year long planning, design, and permitting process—that received much criticism and protest from many within the Plaquemines community— the ground breaking nally kicks o_ the diver’s construction.

Plaquemines Parish Businessman and Civic Leader Jeff Edgecombe was announced as King of the 2023 Plaquemines Parish Fair and Orange Festival after being nominated by the committee of past kings of the 77-yearold organization. The kings gathered on Tuesday last week to offer a toast with Pivach Orange Wine.
