Eastbank Levees Re-Entered into the Federal Levee System Program

_e US Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) recently accepted the Phoenix to Bohemia Reach C Levee back into the federal system (known as the P.L.84-99 Program), ensuring that the levee will provide the most e_cient protection possible and receive federal funding in the future. _is has been a major focus of the Plaquemines Parish Government (PPG) since parish president Keith Hinkley took o_ce back in January.

Two Plaquemines Parish Natives Donate Uniforms for PPSO SWAT Team

Turlich, Jr. would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. David Bulot and Dr. Elizabeth Dickinson for donating new uniforms to the Plaquemines Parish Sheri #8217;s O_ce (PPSO) SWAT Team. On April 28, 2023, members of the SWAT team and K9 Vader invited Dr. Bulot and Dr. Dickinson to the PPSO Administration Building in Belle Chasse to express their gratitude for the new uniforms. Dr. Bulot and Dr. Dickinson were also treated to a brief demonstration by K9 Vader and his handler, Detective Bryan Munch.

Turlich, Jr. announces Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office (PPSO) K9 Vader will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. PPSO K9 Vader’s vest is sponsored by Tom Infante of Cold Spring, KY and will be embroidered with the sentiment “Born to Love-Trained to Serve-Loyal Always.” Delivery is expected within eight to ten weeks.

Local Students Make Honor Roll at Oregon State

William J. Lane (Post Baccalaureate, BioHealth Sciences) and Kirsten L. _oll (Junior, Computer Science), both of Belle Chasse, were named to Oregon State University's Scholastic Honor Roll for Winter 2023. A total of 12,307 students earned a B-plus (3.5) or better to make the listing. To be on the Honor Roll, students must carry at least six graded hours of course work.
