Leroy Joseph “Buddy” Cossé, age 88, peacefully passed on April 16, 2025. He was born in Port Sulphur, Louisiana on April 14, 1937, where he lived most of his life until he retired to Slidell to be near his son and grandsons. He was the beloved husband for 53 years of the late Patsy Pichon Cossé. He is also preceded in death by his parents, George Cossé Sr. and Evelyn Rouselle Cossé, his brother George Cossé Jr. and his sister Eileen Cossé Edgecombe. He is survived by his son, Michael Joseph Cossé (Andrea), grandsons Andrew Cossé and Mitchell Cossé (Ashley), great grandchildren; Grace, Ava and Dustin, and his brothers Gilbert Cossé and Rene Cossé. He is also survived by and preceded in death by a host of in-laws, many nephews and nieces, and dear friends. Buddy graduated from Port Sulphur High School in 1955 and graduated with a B.S. from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He was an accomplished athlete in high school, semi-pro 3rd baseman for the Port Sulphur Merchants and Regional Badminton Champion for Northwestern State University. “Coach” was loved by many as a teacher, coach, and principal at Delta Heritage Academy in Buras, Louisiana. He later became recreation director of Plaquemines Parish and retired in 2003. Buddy and Patsy were well known owners of the Melody Lounge in Port Sulphur for 9 years. He also enjoyed many years as a substitute teacher in the St Tammany Parish schools. Buddy was an avid fisherman and duck hunter. He was the chairman of the Plaquemines Parish Chapter of Ducks Unlimited for 10 years and founding member of the re-established Delta Duck Hunting Club. His friends and family have many fond memories with him and the iconic houseboat; the Delta Duck. As per his wishes, a private ceremony for the inurnment of Buddy and Patsy will be held at Honaker Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell, Louisiana.
