Debra Mae LaFrance Duncan

With hearts full of love and profound sorrow, we celebrate the life of Debra “Mae Mae” LaFrance Duncan, who departed this world on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the age of 71. A proud native of Boothville, LA, and a longtime resident of Gretna, LA, Debra lived a life defined by love, resilience, and devotion to family. Debra was the cherished wife of Lambert R. Duncan, Sr., with whom she built a beautiful life filled with laughter, unwavering support, and countless memories. She was a devoted mother, guiding her children with wisdom, warmth, and love: Sandarian LaFrance, Taneka (Horace) Henry, Debony Duncan. She also shared an unbreakable bond with her extended children Larry Duncan, Lambert Duncan Jr., Leon (Christina) Duncan, Loleta Duncan Martin, Lydia (Thurmond) Arnold, and the late Lorne (Marie) Duncan. Her love extended to the next generations as a beloved grandmother to Jailyn and Jayce Henry and a proud great-grandmother to Jayceon Massaline and Aria Owens. She also shared an unbreakable bond with Lambert Duncan’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her legacy of love. Debra embraced her role as a sister with open arms. She is survived by her siblings: Theresa LaFrance, Sylvia (late Rev. Ellsworth Sr.) Harris, Daisy (Relief Jr.) Jones, James (Umica) LaFrance, Stephon LaFrance, Albert LaFrance, Lois Mayberry, and Dwayne (Francine) Anderson. She was preceded in death by her dear sisters, Dianne Washington and Morner (Henry Sr.) Washington. Her extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends will forever cherish the time they shared with her. Debra was a woman of deep faith, unwavering in her trust in God. Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her, including those she worked alongside at the Jefferson Parish School System, where her dedication was evident in every moment she spent uplifting others. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daisy LaFrance and Albert Duplessis whom she loved and cherish. Family, friends, and all who were touched by Debra’s warmth are invited to celebrate her life and legacy at Zion Hill Christian Church, 137 Zion Hill Lane, Boothville, LA, on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Visitation will begin at 9 AM, followed by a heartfelt service at 11 AM, officiated by Rev.
