The Plaquemines Medical Center (PMC) held their annual “Back 2 School” Supply Giveaways at the Port Sulphur YMCA on Aug. 7 and the Percy M. Griffin Community Center in Davant on Aug. 14. Giveaways included school supplies, educational resources, and refreshments. The events were in partnership with Heathly Blue, Plaquemines Primary Care, Plaquemines Parish Health Department, Chevron Oronite Oak Point, Families Helping Families, and Metropolitan Human Services District. PMC is very grateful for the partnership opportunities to host these events and provide resources to the families of Plaquemines Parish. PMC thanks all community partners and volunteers.
Plaq. Medical Center partners with Chevron Oronite Oak Point for a COVID-19 Prevention Drive-Thru Giveaway
The Plaquemines Medical Center joined forces with Chevron Oronite Oak Point to organize a COVID-19 Prevention giveaway in partnership with Plaquemines Primary Care, Families Helping Families, and the Metropolitan Human Services District. To foster a healthy and safe event during the pandemic, the occasion was a drive-thru arrangement held on August 13 at Plaquemines Medical Center. During this event, more than 200 COVID-19 prevention kits were distributed to community members that included a draw-string bag filled with hand sanitizer, masks, and gloves. PMC is grateful for this partnership opportunity to host this event in the continuation of raising awareness on preventive health precautions and to encourage our local community to wash their hands, wear a mask, and practice social distancing!
The Plaquemines Parish Council issued two proclamations at its Aug. 13 meeting honoring two members of a prominent Plaquemines family who recently passed away. The council declared Aug. 13 as Germaine Ballay Curley Day and Aug. 14 as Kenneth Harvey Day in the parish. Curley was the parish’s first woman elected to the parish council. Harvey was a longtime employee of the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office.
