South Plaquemines Elementary School (SPES) Diamond Bots traveled to Hammond Magnet High School in on Saturday, Feb. 15, to compete in their second robotics competition this year. Their first competition in Lafayette was just a warm-up. Although they did not place in Lafayette, they learned valuable strategies to give them a leg-up for the competition in Hammond.
Congratulations to all of the students who were selected to represent their grade levels as Students of the Month at South Plaquemines Elementary School. Being selected as Students of the Month means that you have met the schoolwide expectations of being respectful, responsible, and safe. “We are proud of your commitment in making South Plaquemines Elementary a model school. The South Plaquemines YMCA has formed a Leaders Club (teens in seventh through 12th grade) in collaboration with South Plaquemines High School. Leaders Club is designed to provide knowledge, training and experiences so that teens become strong leaders in their community and foster a spirit of service to others. Leaders gain confidence, maturity and exposure for career and college readiness through club participation.
Pictured is the graduating class of the PPSO Citizen’s Police Academy #18. They graduated from the 10- week course on January 30, 2020 and the classes took place at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Buras. We just wanted to offer our congratulations to the graduating class.
