Shirley Broussard was called home to be with our Lord on August 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was 87 years old and, fittingly, just days away from celebrating her 88th birthday with her beloved husband, Norman, in heaven. Shirley was born on August 25, 1938, to Mabel and Paul Bertrand Sr. in Abbeville, Louisiana. In high school, she met the love of her life, Norman Joseph Broussard. They were married on June 20, 1954, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville, Louisiana. Together, they shared 71 years of marriage and built a life centered around family, faith, and love. Shirley had a wonderful zest for life. She loved playing cards, had a competitive spirit, a great sense of humor, and a way of making memories wherever she went. She loved spending time with her family and was especially proud of her granddaughters. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she carried that faith with her through both joyful and difficult times. Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norman Joseph Broussard; her parents; and her siblings, Robert Bertrand, Mae Baudoin, and Paul Bertrand Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Paula S. Broussard of Manvel, Texas; her son, Nathan G. Broussard of Scott, Louisiana; her grandchildren, Shanna Morales and husband Jaime of Corpus Christi, Texas; Krissy Broussard Miller and husband Christian of Rosharon, Texas; and Annabella, Olivia, and Gabriella Broussard of Youngsville, Louisiana; and her great-grandchildren, Ryan, Jordan, and Jaxon Morales of Corpus Christi, Texas. Services will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath, Louisiana, on August 29, 2026. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 11:30 a.m. and Mass at 12:00 p.m. A gathering will follow at a family member’s home. The family invites you to wear red in honor of Shirley and her favorite color. The family recognizes the following as honorary pallbearers in honor of Shirley: Brad Bertrand, Kevin Broussard, Brian Broussard, Christian Miller, Jaime Morales, Ryan Morales, Paul Allen Broussard, and Kenneth Teekel. Thank you to Linda Mena and Pepper Mason for the care they provided for Shirley. She leaves behind a lifetime of love, memories, laughter, and family stories.
