Memorial Services for Bernice Fuqua Duplechain, age 81, of Carriere, MS who passed away Saturday, March 21, 2026 were held, March 27, 2026 at 2:00 PM in McDonald Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation was held on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home. Bro. Cedric Lumpkin will officiate the service. Bernice was born in Melville, LA, spent most of her life in Buras, Louisiana with her husband Phillip, while raising their children; after hurricane Katrinia, Bernice and her family moved to Carriere, MS. She worked at PRC School District as a Cafeteria worker. Bernice loved animals; her rooster, Prince; her chickens and her dog Sadie. She enjoyed being outdoors took great pride tending to her plants and doing yard work. She loved her family, loved when her grandchildren came to visit. They always brought a smile to her face. Bernice didn't meet a stranger and loved to socialize. She loved to dance to Cajun music, it brought out the happiest times of her life. Bernice was a wonderful wife, amazing mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleveland Fuqua and Elizabeth Stermer Fuqua; husband of 55 years, Phillip Duplechain; sisters, Gerald Duplechain, Maxine Firman, and Myrtle Firman. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Philis Stringfield; son, Kirt (Greta) Duplechain; daughter, Tasha Longley; 6 grandchildren, Bailey, Garrett, Brennen, Cody, Megan, Dylan; great grandchildren, Leyah, Mason, J.D., Marie, Johnny, Mino, Hunter, Aiden, Brynnen Kate, Avery, Blyke, and Atlas; sisters, Peggy Viola, Shirley Triplet, Cynthia Stockstill, and Sammy Lynn Dupont.
