A Celebration of Life for Rawleigh Bee “Butch” Alexander, Jr., of Gilmer, Texas, will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 27, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints under the direction of McWhorter Funeral Home. Butch was born on March 2, 1942, in Port Sulphur, Louisiana, to Rawleigh Bee Alexander Sr. and Barbara Smith Alexander, he entered into eternal rest on June 18, 2026, in Longview, Texas, surrounded by his loved ones. Butch proudly served our country in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A testimony of his faith has been shown through his dedication and volunteer work as a proud supporter of our community. Through the Crime Stoppers Program, he was the driving force behind the Yamboree “Yam Taxi” starting in 2021. Over the years he has given rides to several thousand Yamboree visitors over the four years of this program. Crimestoppers and Blue Santa of Upshur County ‘Shop with a Cop’ programs were Butch’s most rewarding contributions to our community. Butch received Citizen of the Year in 2024 at the Gilmer Chamber of Commerce Banquet. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Candice Moore, Rebecca Creppel Moore (Steven), Paul Alexander, and Dan Dollins (Cheryl); sister, Sheryl Prestenbach; Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins, and a host of friends and family including the Clark family. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Veda Faye Allen, Audeen Greer, and Lynda Barney. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Johnson, Charlie Green, Jimmy Green, Jay Yazell, Carl Wilson, Wes Spangler, Rabbit Davis, and Rick Woloszyn. In lieu of flowers, please consider bringing a Walmart gift card to the memorial service, which will be used for “Shop with a Cop”, an organization that was dear to Butch.
