Joe William “Joey” Hicks, Sr. of Belle Chasse, LA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at the age of 68. He was born in Houston, TX, on April 27, 1953 to the union of his parents, Thomas Jackson Hicks and Nora Mae Standifer. He was a caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved spending time with his family, caring for his bearded dragon, Toby, and was surely greeted at Heaven’s gate by his beloved dog and longtime companion, BooBoo. He enjoyed drinking his coffee every morning, reading his Bible and going fishing whenever he could. He will be fondly remembered as a kind, gentle soul who had a fierce love for the Lord and was always willing to help anyone in need. A retired welder, he also served as an Ordained Minister under International Christian Fellowship. Joe is survived by his son, Joe W. Hicks Jr. (Stacie), and daughter, Michelle R. Hicks (Lonnie Rice); grandchildren, Bryan Hicks (Amy), Brandon Hicks, Lauren Hicks, and Peyton Hicks (Rebekah Paternostro); and his great-grandson, Liam Hicks. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, John and Thomas “Tommy” Hicks; and his sisters, Nora Faye Lucas and Peggy Sue Lara. There will be a private gathering by the family at a later date to celebrate his life.
