Tessa Mae Ned Trufant
On Sunday, July 22, 2018 at 1:45 p.m. in Plano, Texas our beloved Tessa Mae Ned Trufant went to be with her Lord at the age of 71. Mrs. Tessa was born on April 13, 1947 in New Orleans, LA to the late Vera Th omas Randall and the late Hosea M. Ned, Sr. She was the devoted wife of Sylvester G. Trufant, Sr. for 51 glorious years. From that union came 3 sons, Sylvester G. Trufant Jr. (Lisa), Kevin B. Trufant Sr. and Derrick Trufant. Tessa grew up in Phoenix, LA and has been a lifelong resident of Marrero, LA for much of her adult life. Tessa was an avid learner and in 1966, she graduated from Phoenix High School. She was also a student athlete and a member of the high school basketball team, who were nicknamed the Big 6, whose members included Emelda Barthelemy, Jacquelyn Franklin, Clara Mae Harvey, and the late Marion Bienemy and Betty Jean Simeon. She was the daughter-in-law of the late Willimenia P Joseph and Alfred Trufant, Sr. She was the sister of Hosea M. Ned Jr., Milton Ned (Yolanda) and the late Cynthia Duplessis (late Alcia). She was grandmother to Kevin B. Trufant, Jr. and Christipher G. Trufant, Taylor Covington, Chasity and Cayliah Jackson and great grandmother of Kingston Covington and McCayliah Jackson. She was the sister-in-law of Natalie Baldwin (late Will), Kenneth (Mary), Roy (Edith), the late Claude (Ramona), Craig, Sterling, and the late Alfred Trufant, Jr. She was the niece of Winston Th omas Sr. (Regina), Leola Th omas, and Augustine Th omas (late Oliver). She was the god-mother of Bridget Colley, Lakesha Isaac, and Heather Barthelemy. She was the aunt of Marlon Ned, Jamal Ned, Luther Ned and Sheena Ned. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of St. John Baptist Church of Phoenix, LA, Greater St. Stephens FGBC, United Fellowship, House of Faith and neighboring churches of Plaquemines Parish attended the visitation and funeral services at St. John Baptist Church, 136 Saint John Lane, Phoenix, LA 70040 on Saturday, August 4, 2018.
