Freddie "Curtis" Williams Sr., was born on September 7, 1938, to the union of Shafter and Eliza White Williams of Port Sulphur, LA. He was married to the late Verna Davis Williams, and lived in Algiers, LA for over 55 years. On Saturday January 8, 2022, God called his soul to eternal rest. He was baptized at an early age in Plaquemines Parish and always said that the water in that outdoor pool was cold, but he told the Lord that he was going to serve him, and he did so faithfully even until his death. Curtis was ordained as a Deacon under Reverend Williams, on the east bank of the river prior to joining Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Algiers, LA. He served at Second Good Hope Church, Christ the Savior B.C., and wherever he was needed. He served under the late Pastor Walter C. Jackson until the Lord called him home. In recent years, Curtis served faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Dudley Watson whom he loved dearly. Curtis was always available to help any member of his church any way he could. He loved to sing, pray and testify. If the doors were open and the lights were on, Curtis was at the church house. He never met a stranger, and his heart was open to all. Curtis had many jobs and was known as a jack of all trades, he retired from Jefferson Transit after 30 years of faithful and dedicated service. Curtis also served his community and the senior citizens faithfully through the Arthur Monday Senior Citizens Center. He was not lazy and always was on the move always willing to help others. Left to cherish his memory are his four sons: Curtis Jr (Denise), Curtis, Curton, and Timmy; mother Jacquelun Simmons; four daughters: Cynthia Williams, Anna Ford (Willie Jr.), and Giselle Anderson; eight grandchildren: Javont, Trea Williams, Kiresten, Zailen Moorehead, Judonte Bailey, Curshell, Curton Simmons Jr., Devante, Julien William, and Richard Miller and others; two great-grandchildren: Treayion and Trea Williams Jr.; sister-in-law, Anna Bell Williams (Percy), one cousin Larry Williams (Faith); and his loving partner of seven years, Sylvia Joseph.
