On New Year’s Day of 2022, Anna “Luv” Butscher Buras, our golden girl, passed away at the age of 81. Anna, a wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all she met; ran five successful businesses with her husband in Pointe-a-la-Hache, LA until Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Known for her sass and straight forward demeanor, Anna was tough, but had a heart of gold. She loved her family more than she could express. She had a quick wit and spoke her mind, and lovingly dished out advice whether sought or not. Anna was an ear to listen to many and gave from her pocket to help family and friends alike. Anna, the daughter of the late Stephen L. Butscher and Irma Lange Butscher, was preceded in death by the love of her life and her husband of 61 years, Ralph J. Buras Sr., and her daughter Cheri Buras Ragusa. She is survived by her four children, Ralph J. “RJ” Buras (Rodney), Neal A. Buras (Anna), Daphne A. Buras and Richard S. Buras (Daffanie). She is the sister of Stephen L. Butscher, the late John “Jack” Butscher, Daniel Butscher, and stepsister of Paul Melancon (Reneé) and Robert Melancon (Stacy). Her greatest joy in life were her eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren: Paul Ragusa (Sarah), Louis Ragusa (Sarah), Adam Buras (Haley), Mariah Buras Mathews (Andrew), Devan Kuylen (Shelby), Clemson Buras (Brooke), Jourdan Buras (Megan), and Amber Buras (Tim). Anna also left behind a host of nieces and nephews. She became very close to her caretaker, Norma Henry, to whom we are forever grateful! Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation to be held St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, January 29, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in memory of Anna and Ralph Sr. A Memorial Mass will begin at 12 p.m. She will be laid to eternal rest in a private ceremony at All Saints Mausoleum in New Orleans, LA.
