Arnolie Sanders III, known affectionately as 'Junior' a United States Army Veteran, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, New Orleans, Louisiana. He was born on July 17, 1948, to the late Arnolie Sanders Jr. and the late Leander Dobard Sanders. He is a native of Jesuit Bend, Louisiana and a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana for many years. He attended Scottville School before joining the Military. Having served his time in the United States Army, he worked many years at the Myrtle Grove Terminal until his retirement. Arnolie leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Demetrius Sanders; his only brother, Hughes Sanders (Mildred); a devoted partner, Brenda West; grandchildren, DaVonte' Cortes Jeanmarie and Mariah Sullen; one aunt, Theresa August; nieces, Dionne Carter (Alfred Jr.), Latrice and Ashley Sanders; great-nieces, Angelle Riley (Avery Jr.) and Angelique Carter; a great-nephew, Alfred Carter III; daughter in law, Michelle Francis- Sullen; godchild, Robin Burras; and a devoted cousin, Ronald Dobard, along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Black Sanders; two sons, Torranno Sanders and Stanford Sullen. Relatives and friends of the family, former and current employees of Myrtle Grove Terminal, Jefferson Parish Schools, Marriott International, officers and members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, Life Center Cathedral, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend Arnolie's visitation on Wednesday, July, 29, 2026, 8:00 am to 9:00 am, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 8968 LA-23, Belle Chasse, Louisiana. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 9:00 am and he will be interred at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, Louisiana immediately following the mass. The family of Arnolie extends our deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love, support, and kindness shown to us during this difficult time. Your prayers, comforting words, and thoughtful gestures, big or small, have brought us strength and peace when we needed it most. We sincerely thank Father Kyle, the medical team at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, the Palliative Care team and Community Living Center, Robinson Funeral Home, and all those who cared for Arnolie with compassion, dignity, and respect. Your professionalism and kindness will always be remembered and appreciated. May God bless each and every one of you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers. Though we grieve his passing, we find comfort in the promise that he now rests in the eternal peace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Arnolie (Junior) will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who know and loved him. His memory will continue forever.
