BVES Celebrates Asian New Year

Body
Asian New Year is always a special time at Boothville-Venice Elementary School, with a large number of Asians in the school. This is a great way to showcase different cultures at the school. This is a festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese lunisolar Chinese calendar. For the Asian students, it is the year of the Cat. Mrs. Stephanie Nguyen and the English as a Second Language (EL) students of Boothville celebrated this year on Friday, January 27, 2023 with a grand celebration and luncheon. This luncheon is a way for families to dress up and come together as one. The lunch was catered by Lucky Garden in Belle Chasse. A huge thank you to Sharko's Seafood and Mark Cognevich for donations and support. We were so excited for Superintendent Denis Rousselle, Monica Wertz, Ronald Bateman, Dr. Shelley Ritz, Kenny Petkovich, Tonika Peavy, Molly Bronkow, Paul Lemaire and Jennifer Sanger who visited and shared this enriching experience of our Asian culture. We would like to especially thank Mrs. Stephanie’s family for attending and Mr. Tommy Nguyen for his culinary expertise in carving and serving the pig.
