4th Circuit Rules that PPG Lawsuit Against Diversion Should be Heard in Plaquemines

On January 29, the 4th Circuit Court of Appeal in New Orleans overturned a December 28, 2023 ruling from 25th Judicial District Court (JDC) Judge Michael Clement approving an “improper venue” motion from the Coastal Protection & Restoration Authority (CPRA). Clement’s ruling determined that the Plaquemines Parish Government’s (PPG) lawsuit against the CPRA diversion should be heard in the 19th JDC of Baton Rouge.

_e Plaquemines Parish council held a special council meeting on _ursday, February 1 to openly discuss the major tra issues currently impacting the westbank of Plaquemines. _is meeting, unlike typical council meetings, was not just parish president Keith Hinkley and the council members listening to concerns from residents. Nearly every organization or company that is directly involved/ a_ected by the tra situation attended the meeting to discuss what has been done to lessen the tra issues, what are the long term solutions, and what can be done in the immediate future to lessen the impact.

PPG O_cials Travel Up to Nation's Capital for Washington Mardi Gras

From Thursday, January 25 through Saturday, January 27, public officials from Plaquemines Parish, and all over Louisiana, traveled up to Washington, D.C. for an annual celebration known as Washington Mardi Gras. While this event brings the festivities of the parade season to the nation’s capital for a few brief days, allowing leading politicians to experience a Mardi Gras themed ball set with its royalty (this year’s king was former Saints quarterback Drew Brees), it also gives Louisiana officials the opportunity to meet face-toface with numerous federal politicians on major issues facing the state.

Belle Chasse Academy is excited to announce its recent awarding of a $750,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA). This grant is for Military-Connected Academic and Support Programs (MCASP). This is Belle Chasse Academy’s third Do-DEA award, including project years 2017 (grant completed) and 2021 (active grant).
