Council Members Clash with Lepine Over Proposed Government Employee Pay Raise

At their August 11 meeting, the Plaquemines Parish Government (PPG) Council had the opportunity to implement a new “pay plan” that would provide all government employees with a raise. Considering PPG officials constantly complain about how a lack of high wages for employees leads to the government being unable to hire/ retain a big workforce, a vote to provide CONTINUED FROM THE FRONT PAGE a raise for the employees appeared to be an easy choice.

Council Appoints Nancy LaHaye to Vacant District 2 Seat

By Justin Walton The Plaquemines Parish Government (PPG) has appointed Nancy LaHaye to fill the vacant District 2 Council seat left behind when Councilman Beau Black resigned to take a job with the state. At the August 11 Council meeting, there were several resolutions on the agenda to appoint someone to the position.

Injured Deputy Returns Home, Charges Lowered for Individual Accused of Hitting Him

As Lieutenant Edmund Fisher—the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office (PPSO) deputy who was hospitalized due to being struck by an ATV on Tuesday, May 31—returned to his home after two months of hospitalization, the individual who struck the deputy, Reginald Hamilton, of New Orleans; had his charges lowered from Attempted Murder to Second Degree Battery.

I, like everyone else was surprised when the news spread through the parish that one of our icons was being sold to Breaux Mart. Personally, I am glad to see Sal, Ralph and Joe Balestra finally begin their much needed retirement.
