Louise, the daughter of the late Emile Hutcherson, and Saverine Avist Hutcherson, was born September 8,1928 in New Orleans, Louisiana and entered into eternal rest on August 25, 2026 peacefully during a Kool Kid travel. She was 97 years old. Louise graduated from Booker T Washington High School, Xavier University and Southern University with a degree in Education and Agricultural Science. Teaching was her passion and her purpose. She began her teaching career at Booker T Washington. She would later travel further south to Plaquemines Parish during segregation and teach at Sunrise School. After integration, she taught at Buras High School and then Boothville Venice High School where she would remain until she retired in 1984. For 36 years, she was an educator who was firm, but fair. She believed in supporting and encouraging her students. Louise first love was her late husband of 64 years, Francis N. Catalon, and their daughter, Alexia. Louise was not only an educator, but also a servant. She served her community thru several memberships and organizations. The Plaquemines Parish Council on Aging Board, The Plaquemines Parish Agricultural Association Board, Operation Mainstream Board, Louisiana Teachers Association, Louisiana Retired Teachers Association( District President),Beta Phi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc, Metropolitan Women's Voters League, Plaquemines Parish Soil and Water Conservation Board,Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxillary, Ladies Auxillary of St. Anthony Catholic Church,St.Louis IX Medallion Award, City of New Orleans Proclamation, National Association of University Women. Louise was a mother, grandmother, godmother,sister,aunt,cousin, mentor,role model, neighbor,and friend to many. She touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed, but her legacy will forever be remembered. The remembrance of our beloved Louise was held September 12, 2026 at Holy Name of Mary Church, 500 Eliza St, New Orleans, La at 11am, visitation began at 9am. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that contributions be made to the May5Foundation, an organization she held near and dear to her heart.
